Known for their love of running, exploring, and chewing, their personality makes them a popular choice for humans.
There are a vast array of products specifically designed for Hamsters. Here are the most sought-after items that can be bought online or in physical stores.

HAMSTER HIDES
Hamster hides provide a safe and secure space for your Hamster to retreat and feel comfortable. Hides can also help to reduce stress and anxiety. Here are some popular types.
WOODEN HIDES
These are a classic option and can be purchased pre-made or crafted. They offer a natural and sturdy hiding place for your Hamster, though they may be easily chewed.
FABRIC HIDES
These can be made from various materials, such as fleece, cotton, or denim. Fabric hides can also provide a soft and cozy space for your Hamster to rest.
CERAMIC HIDES
These offer a cool and secure hiding place, especially during hot weather. Ceramic hides are also durable and easy to clean. Hamsters cannot chew on these items. Unfortunately, they are quite fragile and can easily break if handled carelessly.
PLASTIC HIDES
Commercially available with lots of designs to choose from, plastic hides can be lightweight and easy to move around. They can be cheap, but they might not be as durable as other materials.
When choosing a hide for your Hamster, consider the following factors.
SIZE
The hide should be large enough for your Hamster to move around comfortably. A hide that is too small can be stressful and may limit their ability to explore and exercise.
MATERIAL
Choose a material that is safe for your Hamster and easy to clean. Avoid materials that contain harmful paint, chemicals, or dyes.
VENTILATION
Ensure that the hide has adequate ventilation to prevent mold and mildew.

HAMSTER WHEELS
Hamster wheels are an essential exercise equipment for Hamsters. They provide a way for Hamsters to run, exercise and have fun. Here are some factors to consider.
SIZE
The wheel should be large enough for your Hamster to run around in without them having to bend their back. A good rule of thumb is to choose a wheel that is at least the size of your Hamster’s body. This will help prevent injuries and ensure that your Hamster can get a good workout.
MATERIAL
Hamster wheels can be made from various materials, including plastic, metal, and wood. Plastic wheels are often the most common choice, but metal wheels can be more durable. Avoid wooden wheels as they can splinter and injure your Hamster.

SOLID OR WIRE
Solid wheels are generally preferred over wire wheels as they are less likely to cause injuries to your Hamster’s feet. Wire wheels can also be noisy and can vibrate.
SILENT WHEELS
Some Hamster wheels are designed to be quieter than others. If you are sensitive to noise or have a Hamster who is easily startled, you may want to consider a silent wheel. I personally like the sound of wired wheels.
HAMSTER BALLS
Hamster balls are used outside of cages or bins, while wheels are typically kept inside. Hamster balls are a popular accessory, providing Hamsters with a safe and fun way to exercise and explore their surroundings. They are typically made of a clear plastic material with a small opening for the hamster to enter and exit.

EXERCISE
Hamster balls provide hamsters with a great way to exercise and stay healthy.
EXPLORATION
They allow hamsters to explore their environment safely without the risk of getting lost or injured.
ENTERTAINMENT
Hamster balls can be a fun and stimulating way for hamsters to play.
3 ISSUES TO THINK OF
SAFETY

Some Hamster balls are not made of safe materials, and some can be too small or have sharp edges.
OVERHEATING
Hamsters can overheat if they are left in their ball for too long, especially in warm weather.
BOREDOM
While Hamster balls can be fun for a short time, they may not provide enough stimulation in the long run.

HAMSTER HOUSES
There are two types: Hamster bins and wired cages.
HAMSTER BINS
Hamster bins are a popular and affordable option for housing Hamsters. They are typically made of plastic and are designed to be easy to clean and maintain. Here are some things to consider.
SIZE
The bin should be large enough to accommodate your Hamster’s needs for exercise, play, and hiding.
VENTILATION
The bin should have adequate ventilation to prevent mold and mildew. Look for bins with holes or vents that allow for air circulation.

LID
The lid should be secure to prevent your Hamster from escaping. It’s also important to make sure that the lid is easy to remove for cleaning and maintenance.
ACCESSORIES
Some Hamster bins come with accessories, such as shelves, tubes, and hiding places. These can provide additional enrichment for your hamster.
Sometimes I find the accessories too much if it lessens the space for the Hamster to roam around.
WIRED CAGES
Wired cages are a popular choice for Hamsters, providing them with a safe and secure environment to explore and play. They are typically made of metal wire mesh, with a solid bottom to prevent the Hamster from escaping. Benefits include the following.

VENTILATION
Wired cages allow for good air circulation, which is important for the Hamster’s health.
VISIBILITY
You can easily see your Hamster and monitor their behavior.
ACCESSIBILITY
Wired cages are easy to clean and maintain.
POTENTIAL DRAWBACKS
HAMSTERS MAY CHEW THE WIRES
Hamsters may chew on the wire mesh, which can damage the cage and potentially injure the hamster.
HAMSTERS COULD EASILY ESCAPE
Some Hamsters are skilled at escaping from cages, and wired cages can be easier to break out of than solid-sided cages.
THE CAGE GETS COLD
Wired cages can be cold in the winter, especially if the Hamster is not provided with adequate bedding. It’s a good thing the Philippines is a tropical country.

TO LEASH OR NOT TO LEASH: A HAMSTER CONTROVERSY
There is considerable debate about whether or not using a leash on a Hamster is cruel. While many online videos depict Hamsters having fun with leashes, it’s generally not recommended. Hamsters are fragile creatures, and using a leash could potentially harm them.
However, if someone carefully supervises and limits the use of a leash to short periods, it might be acceptable. It’s essential to prioritize the Hamster’s safety and wellbeing in any activity.
