In a grocery store in Seattle, a man with his service dog was confronted by two other men and assaulted him last month. Worst thing was, they walked away with his animal companion.
Jeffrey Almes had a tragic car accident years ago. Since then, he had his service dog Layla wherever he goes to help him with a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
“I’ve had her 9 years of her life. I got her when she was 6 weeks old. I’ve had her since she was a puppy to be my service dog,” Almes said.
With their tight relationship, it left Almes heartbroken after two thugs punched him at Hillcrest Market and took Layla with them.

Luckily, a Good Samaritan reported about a dog who looked just like Layla. Almes told KIRO 7 that Layla has been returned to him after police received a call from someone who realized that the dog they took in looked exactly like the photos of Layla that was posted on Facebook.
The man who took Layla in said he had the dog for nearly a month, from which police suspected that she was immediately freed after the confrontation at Capitol Hill.
