41-year-old tortoise named Dino have returned to his owner after he wandered off around town and off into another resident’s backyard.

An animal regulation officer in California said Dino was found about a half-mile from the home of owner Cindy Haase. According to a report by the Record Searchlight, Dino apparently ambled away after a storm blew open the latch on his outdoor enclosure.

Authorities, including some deputies from Tehama County used a watermelon to lure the 150-pound tortoise before being lifted into a vehicle for transport.

Tortoise Acres Rescue and Sanctuary owner Katie Hoffman said it is breeding season, so it is normal for pet tortoises to roam to seek companionship.
