The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) K-9 Corps, a non-profit organization that trains dogs for search and rescue and disaster operations, is looking for volunteers who can help in rescuing animals left behind in the affected areas after the Taal Volcano eruption.

“We need volunteers who can help crate and transport abandoned pets in Batangas and nearby provinces to a shelter or foster home,” posted the organization in its Facebook page.

In partnership with Strategic Power for Animal Respondents-Philippines (SPAR), an online platform who informs the public on the welfare of animals, MMDA K-9 Corps is hopeful that many more individuals is willing to make a great addition to the team.

MMDA K-9 Corps and SPAR are also asking for donations, mainly canned goods, bottled waters, pet food, clothes, and toiletries.

Aside from those, the groups would appreciate if anyone could also lend a vehicle to help in transporting the animals for the mission.

If you are interested in making a donation or volunteering, you could message them through their Facebook page or contact Stray Love PH (0917 7680 555) or Stray Worth Saving (0917 6363 823) directly.

Mikhail Kevin Villena, among other animal rescuers, went to Batangas today to rescue more abandoned pets in partnership with other NCR volunteers, MMDA K9 Corps, PNP, AFP, and the Batangas City government.
