As the government mandated an enhanced community quarantine on the entire Luzon to battle and prevent the further spread of the deadly coronavirus, people were forced to stay in their homes and practice social distancing.
The privileged have homes to stay in, while the local government units helped homeless families stay in evacuation centers during this time, but there are the stray animals who were left behind and were forced to look for food as people go into safety.
Good thing the Philippine Coast Guard remembered the stray dogs and cats and initiated to feed them!
“The animals have been roving around the vicinity with no owner to feed them since the declaration of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon,” PCG said in a Facebook post.
Over the weekend, members of PCG prepared nutritious meals, including some kibbles and cats of wet food, and divided it equally for the animals around Port Area in Manila. They also provided clean drinking water for them.
The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia announced in a statement that they gave a framed Animal Friend award to PCG for going beyond their call of duty by feeding the homeless animals.
