A family living in Southern California came across an injured owl lying on their porch one morning. It appeared like the bird had flown into their house’s wall and sustained injuries to the head.
Once they took him to the nearby Wildlfie Learning Center in Sylmar, California, they learned that the Western Screech Owl was blind. The staff took special care to nurse the owl back to good health.
The owl was named Zeus, Greek god of sky and thunder, as his eyes looked like the night sky filled with stars.
Unfortunately, Zeus would not be set free because of his impairment. Still, he has a comfortable home in founder Paul Hahn’s office and has since become one of the best members of the Center.
