Italian farmer Cristian Mallori was surprised when his dog, Spelacchia, gave birth to a puppy with green fur.

They immediately named the adorable pup Pistacchio. He was part of a five-dog litter born in Mallori’s farm on the Mediterranean Island of Sardina. His mother has white fur, as well as his brothers and sisters.

It is believed that his green fur was caused by a green pigment called bilicerdin, which he came in contact with when he was still in the womb.

Unfortunately for many, Pistachio’s color has already started to fade and will continue to do so as he grows up.
