The heat was definitely up as the sun shone bright and Cats meow-gnificiently reigned supreme in glamor and pedigree on the World Cat Federation Cat Show in the Philippines, the very first international Cat Show in our country.

The two-day event was hosted by the World Cat Federation (WCF) Philippines and the Society of Feline Enthusiasts of the Philippines (SFEPI) in February at the Bayview Park Hotel Manila.

FOR FUR PARENTS, BY FUR PARENTS

This event was the result of the undying love of a special group of Cat parents known collectively as SFEPI.

SFEPI’s end goal is to promote responsible animal guardianship by having as many purebred Felines as possible registered to their group. Their mission is to uphold and protect the welfare of all Cats and even other animals in the country.

SFEPI is a trainee club under the Trade Association of Registered Cats in Thailand, an affiliate of WCF in Essen, Germany.

MINGLE PARTY

It absolutely feels like a party with 208 Cats registrants under different breeds, including British Longhair, Persian, Highland Straight (Scottish Straight Longhair), Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Somali, Abyssinian, Bengal, British Shorthair, Exotic Shorthair, Egyptian Mau, Scottish Straight Shorthair, Toyger, Sphinx, novice class, and domestic felines.

DIVERSE PARTICIPANTS

While there were many purebreds and pedigrees, neutered household Cats also showed up to join in the fun.

There is also the novice class wherein a recognized Cat breed without pedigree can secure one if they meet all criteria and approval. Sounds paw-some, right?

THE MAESTROS OF MEOWS

Feline parents learned from the international panel of expert judges who flew in for the event. The AB judges included Cezary Springer (Poland), Jürgen Trautmann (Germany), Kaai du Plessis (Netherlands), and Oskar Chrzanowski (Ireland).

NOVICE CATEGORY

According to WCF, clubs are allowed to evaluate Cats for the novice class. These cats belong to a breed but have no pedigree.

A novice Cat may join an exhibit starting at the age of 6 months.

CROWN THE CHAMPS!

WCF ring judging was one of the most thrilling parts of the event, with the judges ranking the Cats from tenth place to first. A judge would select a maximum of ten cats among participants of different classes, such as adults, kittens, alters, and variety.

CREME DE LA CREME

The Best General Award was given to the top Cat for that day. On the first day, it went to Somalissa Quoddy, an adult Somali. On the second, it was awarded to Invar Britberg, an adult British Shorthair.

These two Best Generals competed to become the Best Supreme, the top Cat overall.

The Best Supreme was awarded to Invar Britberg. Congratulations!

EVERYBODY WINS

Cat parents share stories with each other about their lovely Cat companions. Whether their Feline companions earned certificates or not, everybody brought something home from the array of special goods for the Cat babies, including food, treats, supplements, litter, and grooming supplies.

ENDLESS PAW-SIBILITIES
