Kabosu, famous on the internet as the Doge meme, has passed away today, May 24.
In a heartfelt blog post, his human companion, Atsuko Sato, announced his passing and shared that a farewell party will be held on May 26 to honor Kabosu’s memory.
The Shiba Inu became popular on the internet in 2013 for his adorable face, which became the Doge meme, wherein internet users would put silly, broken-English captions in comic sans. His photo also became the logo of a cryptocurrency called “Dogecoin.”
