A TikTok video by @casssyymi of a Cat trapped in a Snake enclosure in a mini zoo in Masbate City sparked outrage among netizens. The video calls for action from animal welfare groups.

The TikTok video was uploaded with the caption, “[S]akit sa puso bakit [P]usa pinapakain dito, I saw this [in the mini] zoo. (This hurts. Why are Cats being fed [to the Snake?] I saw this in the mini zoo.)”

In the comment section, the uploader further explains how the Cat got into the Snake enclosure in the first place. She said the Cat climbed a small tree inside the cage, but the zookeeper hosed them down.

Unfortunately, the Cat was ultimately eaten by the Snake.

The video was shared across Facebook, tagging relevant animal welfare groups to investigate the incident.

City responds

Two days after the video was uploaded, the Masbate City Government posts an update regarding the mini zoo on their Facebook page. It states that on Tuesday, the city veterinarian visited the mini zoo to check the condition of the animals, including the Snake.

In the end, after much discussion between the vet and staff from the Business Permits Licensing Office, the zoo was permanently closed.

The post says that the city government will enforce stricter regulations and conduct inspections to ensure this issue will not be repeated.
