Facebook user Lex Bonife posted on his page a poem that he wrote for his Dog, Sumo, during the canine’s fourth birthday. Along with the poem is a series of photos of them together enjoying a day at the beach.
When asked about his inspiration for the poem, he said that it was “the bitterness he felt about what his ex-lover did to him.” The poem went viral for its bittersweet sentiment, causing netizens to cry about Sumo’s fate.

Kung selfish ako
Dapat iniwan ko na din ang asong ito.
Hindi naman ako ang nag-decide
na magkaroon ng isang [A]so.
At hindi lang basta [A]so.
Isang malaking [A]so.
Ex ko ang may gusto ng ganitong aso
Siya din kasi ang may condo na allowed
Ang malalaking [A]so.
Bakit ko titiisin mag alaga
at gumastos sa malaking [A]so?
Niloko na nga ako ng ex ko.
Iniwan ako para ipagpalit sa isang mas bata.
Dapat iniwan ko na lang sa kanya ang [A]so nya,

Silver lining
Despite the failed relationship, Lex seems to have found another type of love that seems to promise a better fate: the love he shares with Sumo. At the end of the poem, Lex vows to take care of him until his final breath.
