The rain might be strong, but the determination of animal enthusiasts is stronger as people flocked to the SMX Convention Center for the International Pet Summit.

NO RAINING ON THE PET PARADE

No, the rain did not ruin the celebration. If anything, it rained freebies and food for Dogs and Cats, to the delight of fur parents who braved the weather.

There were all kinds of activities, including games and a raffle where one lucky winner took home a Snake as their new slithery companion for life.

PET SESSIONS

The summit hosted talks about animal welfare and pet care by special guests, including PAWS and the Dog Whisperer, who held a training demonstration. There were sessions that featured Dogs who were up for adoption from animal shelters.

A fashion show was also held at the main stage, in cooperation with the Philippine Canine Club, Inc. The theme was “Tribute to the Filipino Pet Owners,” and participants strutted on the runway with their best Philippine-inspired outfits.

OPEN TO ALL ANIMALS

Dogs and Cats weren’t the only ones in the spotlight. Exotic animal companions, such as Lizards, Snakes, Iguanas, and even small animals like Hamsters, were present at the festivities.

The summit was made possible by Vicente Tupaz (auditor, Philippine Veterinary Drug Association Foundation Inc. [PVDAFI]), Philippe Jose Tupaz (auditor, Philippine Veterinary Drug and Nutrition Association), Dr. Corazon Occidental (president, PVDAFI,) Edna Segismundo (chairman, PVDAFI), Dr. Lina Policarpio (consultant, International Pet Summit; vice president, Philippine Veterinary Medical Association), Dr. Cezar Policarpio (vice-president, PVDAFI), and Dr. Alejandro Tuazon (trustee, PVDAFI).
