Good news for animals in the Philippines! The 2026 national budget has earmarked P10M for the Animal Welfare Supervision and Accreditation Program. The program aims to streamline the implementation of animal welfare laws in the country.
Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan said in a statement that the program aims to ensure safe and humane animal care in shelters, as well as support legitimate animal welfare organizations in the Philippines.
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY
For Pangilinan, animal advocacy is important as it runs in the family.
They have adopted several rescue Dogs over the years. His wife Sharon Cuneta is also a long-time animal advocate. She has worked with Pawssion Project in the past, while the senator has worked with Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
