After the deadly Camp Fire in California last month that tore through more than 150,000 acres of land, burned down houses and killed many people and animals, a family was shocked to see an unbelievable surprise waiting for them by their burnt house.
Their dog, Madison, managed to survive the fire and waited patiently for his fur-mily to come back to their former home.
K9 Paw Print Rescue shared the heartwarming story of Madison in a Facebook post, which showed how loyal and loving animal companions are.
“Madison’s parents were unable to get home to him when the Camp Fire spread. They hoped and prayed he would be OK. When they finally got clearance to go back to the lot where their house once stood…. Madison was waiting there for them as if he were protecting his former home.”
The page also gave credit to rescue worker Shayla Sullivan, who found Madison and his brother Miguel and cared for them while waiting for their owners.
“I’m so happy I’m crying as I write this! He didn’t give up through the storms or the fire! A LOOOOONG month it must have been for him!” shared Sullivan in the post.
“I am sure as more people return, the fur babies that survived the fire WILL know their people are back!” told Andrea Gaylord, Madison’s owner, to ABC10.
A number of home pets and farm animals failed to survive the fire due to extreme burnt injuries, but animal rescuers and Gaylord are hopeful that, just like Madison, some of them will return back home.
