Blind woman asked to get off bus, because her guide dog is black

A 22-year-old blind woman was heckled and told to get off the bus by another passenger, because her guide dog is black.  

Megan Taylor suffers from episodic blindness due to a head injury when she was just 15, which is why she needed assistance dogs like two-year-old Rowley.

While riding the bus at St. Helens, Merseyside in England, Taylor was told to get her dog off the bus by another woman, because guide dogs are not supposed to be black.

Taylor tried to explain that Rowley helped with her disability, but instead, the woman called her a liar and told her “guide dogs are yellow Labradors and your dog is black”, according to the report of Connor Boyd for Daily Mail Online.  

In an interview with Liverpool Echo, Taylor revealed she experienced a number of incidents like that at public transportations, but she tries to remain positive.

“On other occasions, I have been spat at, stepped over, pushed out of the way and accused of being ‘another drunk youth’ when losing consciousness due to my heart condition and neurological disorder,” she said. “I try to stay positive and not let incidents such as what happened get me down, because I am not ashamed of my disability.”
