Eugene Bostick, an 80-year old man from Fort Worth, Texas, may be retired for 15 years now, but his true work has only just begun.
In an interview with The Dodo, Bostick said that he and his brother live down on a dead-end street and have a horse barn. People seem to think it was a good place to just dump their poor animal companions there and leave them to starve.
Luckily, the dogs were dumped at the right place. Bostick and his brother took all dogs and started feeding them and taking care of them. They took all nine dogs under their care and took them to the veterinarian to have them spayed and neutered.
Besides that, Bostick had a great idea of bringing all the dogs together for an adventure. He came up with the idea to build a “dog train” for his dogs.
“One day I was out and I seen this guy with a tractor who attached these carts to pull rocks. I thought, ‘Dang, that would do for a dog train,” Bostick told The Dodo in an interview. “I’m a pretty good welder, so I took these plastic barrels with holes cut in them, and put wheels under them and tied them together.”
Bostick takes his dogs out for a fun day outside once or twice a week. They often go around town, take a breather in the forest or even stop by the local creek.
