April, the giraffe, became quite popular after garnering a lot of attention from live-streamed videos of her two pregnancies and births. However, viewers can no longer expect another pregnancy or birth video of April, because she will now be going on birth control.

Yes, you read that right. No more babies for April!

Jordan Patch from Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York, said in a statement that 17-year old April will begin contraceptives on Friday and retire from the park’s breeding program.

This announcement on Facebook came after April gave birth to her fifth calf, Azizi, in March, which garnered more than 300,000 people to watch the birth live on YouTube.

April first drew a lot of attention (232 million views to be exact!) when she had her other calf, Tajiri, back in 2017.

Patch said the zoo will sill continue the breeding program. Now that April has retired from it, they will continue the program with a new female called Johari, and with April’s former mate, Oliver.

Meanwhile, April will live along with Tajiri and Azizi.
