Banu Cengiz is known as one of the friendliest and most kind-hearted pharmacist in Turkey. She often looks after her neighbors and the people in her town. But aside from loving the people around her, she is also a dog lover at heart.

At home, she has her rescued pup as a companion. When she goes out, she often leaves food, water, and blankets for the other stray animals, thus earning her their love and trust.

Last month, Cengiz noticed one dog waiting patiently by her door instead of hanging out with the other pups. When Cengiz opened the door and welcomed the pup inside, the dog gently lifter her paw.

That when she noticed the dog was bleeding.

Cengiz immediately grabbed some antiseptic and bandages to clean the dog’s wound. The dog stayed perfectly still and waited for Cengiz to do her work.

“When I was done, she laid down as if to thank me,” Cengiz told The Dodo in an interview. “She was saying, ‘I trust you.’”

Cengiz let the dog rest in her office for the day and even gave her lots of food and water. The dog gratefully accepted everything and slept on a bed peacefully.

When Cengiz checked the pup’s paw one more time, the bleeding has stopped and the dog was already feeling better so she let her go back outside.

“Unfortunately, I couldn’t take her home,” Cengiz said. “I’ve been dealing with street animals for years. I feed them and heal them, and help them find homes when I can.”

Though the dog did not go home with her, Cengiz always sees her at the front of her door and so she let her hang out there.

Cengiz shared the video of the dog on her Twitter account and it quickly became viral.

“I do it because they feel. We need to help those who need it,” she said. “People should teach their children to love and respect animals and nature. Then we can all live together in a beautiful world.”
