Do you love some good ole’ spaghetti? Here’s your chance to enjoy three types of spaghetti, drinks, and at the same time, help out animal companions!
Compassion and Responsibility for Animals or CARA Welfare Philippines, a non-profit, non-government animal welfare organization, has organized ‘SPAYghetti,’ a benefit event that will take place at Grace Park Restaurant in Rockwell, Makati on April 14 (Sunday) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
Each ticket to the benefit dinner costs P1,000 pesos, which will help CARA further their main advocacy of animal population control through programs such as Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return and Animal Welfare and Responsible Pet Ownership Education (A.W.A.R.E.) for public and private schools.
“Spaying and neutering not only addresses overpopulation, but also prevention of certain types of cancer in animals, prevents roaming, reduces aggressiveness, and prolongs animal’s lives,” Gem Faisan, a member of CARA Philippines, told Animal Scene.
“The spay and neuter we are concentrating on are for community cats and we have pocket programs for some communities covering dogs,” she added.
From 2006 to 2017, the organization has successfully spayed and neutered 16,984 cats and 563 dogs, and continues to do so.
The proceeds of the event would not just go to CARA programs, but at the same time, help in sustaining food and medicines for 104 cats, 58 pitbulls (at the Laguna Pitbulls Sanctuary), and six aspins.
