Massive fires have been burning for weeks in the west part of Chiang Mai, Thailand in the Doi Suthep mountain area and has destroyed not just the forests, but also the wildlife living there.
In a report by Coconuts Bangkok, a civet was found wandering off the side of the road, away from another massive blaze in the city.
A group of Good Samaritans found the badly disfigured and partially blinded Asian palm civet on a road to the summit of Doi Suthep and was taken to an animal hospital, where it was treated for its severe burn wound to its eyes, mouth and tongue.
“The doctor named it ‘Ranger.’ It’s tough and a relentless survivor. The latest update is that it’s gained some strength. Its wild instinct is back and it showed some aggression. It can slowly eat soft food until the plate is empty. Thank you everyone for the help,” the National Park Department wrote on a Facebook post.
The fires started last month, which have burnt thousands of hectares. The air quality was also deemed “very unhealthy” by Air Visual after scoring 201.
