Earthwatch Institute concluded that bees are the most important living being on the planet during a debate at the Royal Geographical Society of London. But along with this announcement, scientists also declared bees at risk of extinction.
According to recent studies, bees around the world have disappeared up to 90% due to massive deforestation, lack of safe places for nests, lack of flowers, and uncontrolled use of pesticides, among others.
Bees have been declared the most valuable living being on the planet, because they are the only living being that is not a carrier of any type of pathogen, whether it is a fungus, a virus, or a bacterium as determined by a study conducted by the Apiculture Entrepreneurship Center of the Universidad Mayor and Apiculture Corporation of Chile with the support of the Foundation of Agrarian Innovation.
Agriculture depends on 70% of insects. Bees help plants to reproduce, which millions of animals feed on. Honey produced by bees provides a lot of benefits to people’s health.
