Internet sensation Chowder the Chow Chow passed away on Wednesday, July 31, according to his human guardians.
In an Instagram post, they thank Chowder’s followers for their support over the years. “To everyone [who] has commented and messaged us with kind and comforting words, thank you. Chowder has fought a tough battle, but it brings us peace knowing that he is now running free without any pain,” the caption reads.
Chowder was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, cancer (malignant melanoma in gums), bone spurs, and arthritis in late July.
