When you see biker gangs – men with big muscles, tattoos, spiked leather jackets and, of course, those big motorcycles, the first thing you would probably do is to run. You do not want to mess up with that crowd.
But there is one biker gang that proves not all tattooed muscled men mean harm.
Bikers, weightlifters, veterans, lawyers, and retired police officers are part of Rescue Ink, which is a non-profit animal rescue organization. They may look scary or intimidating, but these grown men aim to rescue and protect animals from abusers.
Members of the organization rescue not just dogs and cats, but also horses, fishes, pigs, chickens and reptiles. They said they investigate animal abuse cases or reports of violent pet owners. Once they find evidence of abuse or neglect, they put their power and mind into rescuing the helpless animal and find them a safer, loving and caring, forever home.
“Some people like to think of us as superheroes,” they wrote on their website. “The truth is, we are super animal lovers (and protectors). Through the years, and through many caseloads, obstacles, and downright challenges, we remain strong and dedicated to our mission.”
Rescue Ink had broken up illegal dog-fighting and dog-breeding rings. They also stopped the killing of numerous stray cats and changed the lives of neglected animal companions.
“Rescue Ink does whatever [is] necessary within the means of the law – that’s what our lawyers tell us to say – to fight abuse and neglect of all kinds,” they added.
Some members go beyond than what is expected of them, just to save the animals. They often climb sewage-filled ponds to rescue ducklings or have a ready feeder for any fragile stray cats on the streets.
They receive about 250 reports a day from different locations all over the world, and they try to help as much as they can.
It is true what they say, do not judge a book by its cover.
