A young Brazilian man puts his talent into good use, dedicating more than a year into helping animals find a good home and sleep at a very comfortable bed.

Amarildo Silva is an artist. Two years ago, he needed an extra income. As an artist, he found beauty in the things that most people thought were trash, so he turned to the materials commonly thrown at the streets – from which he found tires.

He said the tires were not only discarded oftentimes, but he saw stray animals taking comfort in them and seeking refuge when they have nowhere else to go.

So, Silva used those tires to not only make extra cash, but also to help the environment and the animals. He collects the old tires discarded on the streets and takes them home.

After separating the tires, he cuts, washes and paints them. He draws different design in each tire and writes the name of the animals the bed belongs to.

Aside from the beds, Silva also realized he could make plant containers with those tires.

Silva said he believes his project will “contribute to a more sustainable world and he will present even more innovative ideas for generating a socio-environmental impact,” according to a report by Bored Panda.
