The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Zamboanga Peninsula released a total of 13 rehabilitated wildlife last September 1 and 2.
In a Facebook post, DENR 9 said their personnel, together with the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Veterinary Officer Dr. Anita J. Chua and her staff, have released 13 rehabilitated wildlife. Four Philippine Serpent eagles (Spilornis holospilus), two Crested serpent eagle (Spilornis cheela), one Pinsker’s hawk-eagle (Nisaetus pinskeri), one yellow-headed water monitor lizard (Varanus cumingi), and one Philippine long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis philippensis) were released Bgry. Dakayakan, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur on September 1.
Meanwhile, the three Crested serpent eagle (Spilornis cheela) and one Brahminy kite (Haliastur indus) were released in Brgy. Lizon Valley, Pagadian City on September 2.
The wildlife were rehabilitated in the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center in Baclay, Tukuran, ZDS. DENR 9 said the sites have been assessed thoroughly and were deemed fit to be the releasing sites for the wild animals.
