A man was riding his motorbike through the mountains of Cebu, Philippines. Suddenly, a dog came out of nowhere and ran after him, barking relentlessly as if telling him something.
The man, whose name is Junrell Fuentes Revilla, said he sensed something was amiss so he followed the dog to see where he was leading him. The dog took him to a dumpsite where a tiny baby lies. It appeared that the newborn baby boy was left abandoned.
Thanks to the canine, the baby was found in good health and was rushed to the nearest police station.
“I wondered so much why no one had credited and honored such a hero dog,” Gea Ybarita, administrator of Hope for Strays, an animal rescue non-profit in Cebu, told Bored Panda in an interview. “Just by chance, we went to Blacky’s place with our motorbike, hoping we could find him. We had zero leads on his exact location and their area was a very remote place.”
It turns out the dog named Blacky has a home. The Hope For Strays team arrived at the dumpsite in the mountain and did not see the dogs there.
“After a few minutes, a guy on a motorcycle passed by and we then asked and showed him Blacky’s pictures regarding his whereabouts,” they said, feeling relieved that the man turned out to be Blacky’s owner.
“His family are dog lovers and they have 4 more adult dogs with 5 puppies,” Ybarita added. “The Olingay family are such genuine, humble, and kind people.”
“I could not forget what Blacky’s owner once said: ‘No matter how hard life is, even though I’m poor, I feed all of my dogs and take care of them well,'” she said.
