Stuart Hutchison has died from brain cancer, and his beloved French bulldog passed 15 minutes later.
Hutchinson died at age 25 on August 11 after an eight-year battle with cancer, according to a report by Mirror. He first learned that his cancer had spread to most of his brain, bones, and pelvis in June despite surgery and months of chemotherapy.
To enjoy his final weeks, Hutchinson moved into his mother’s house and his wife Danielle also moved there to be close to him. When Hutchinson died, Danielle’s father noticed that French Bulldog Nero looked ill.
The family rushed Nero to the emergency vet. They discovered a rupture in Nero’s spine and the pooch died just minutes after arriving at the clinic, and after his owner passed away.
“Stuart died about 1:15pm that day, and Nero died roughly 15 minutes laters,” Fiona Conaghan, Hutchinson’s mother, told Mirror in an interview. “He had three dogs, but him and Nero were like one man and his dog.”
She added that Danielle was heartbroken to lose both of them in her life, but she has been so strong through it all.
“Nero was the dog which was always with him,” she said.
