A 41-year-old man from Delaware has been caught and charged with animal cruelty after the death of his dog that was left in a hot car.
Lamonte Jordan was arrested by police officers from the state Office of Animal Welfare on Tuesday.
Officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen about two dogs found inside a hot vehicle. One dog was muzzled and tethered inside a makeshift crate, while the other was found dead.
Temperatures in the area reached as high as 90 degrees (32.2 Celsius) on that day, and the temperature inside a car can rise to about 119 degrees in just 30 minutes.
Jordan was charged with two counts of animal cruelty – failing to vaccinate for rabies and failing to obtain a dog license.
He was released on $4,500 unsecured bail.
