Dog found and rescued from a beach in O’ahu, Hawaii last July has now made an incredible recovery.

Leialoha, which means ‘loving child,’ was found buried alive in a beach and even had cuts from a rusty knfe. When rescuers brought her to a veterinary hospital, animal rescue group PAWS Hawaii said the poor pooch was “incredibly swollen, sunburnt and missing 90 percent of her fur. Several lacerations to her front legs were also found.

PAWS Hawaii said a beachgoer saw a man burying the dog before leaving, so he immediately called rescuers to help.

While being treated for her severe skin disease and dehydration at Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services, a woman named Amanda found out Leialoha’s story on Facebook and she knew she had to do something.

“I was scrolling FB, while the girls were getting haircuts and saw that there was a dog on the Westside of Oahu that had been buried in the sand and been cut on her leg with a machete,” Amanda said. “My heart was broken, and I knew she needed us to foster her.”

Since then, Leialoha had been recovering with her supportive new fur-mily. At first, Amanda shared Leialoha would only leave her kennel when she needed to go to the bathroom.

Amanda had since shared a lot of Leialoha’s recovery process and it’s good to know that the poor pup before is now living her best life with her wonderful family.
