A Staffordshire bull terrier was seen running after his owner’s car, after he was abandoned at the corner of Timor Grove and Pacific Road in Trentham, Stoke, England last December 17.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) recently shared the CCTV footage, where the owner can be seen holding a dog’s bed with his dog, Snoop.
Recorded at around 5 in the afternoon, the man removed Snoop’s leash, dropped the bed by the roadside and quickly went back inside the car when the dog seemed to be distracted.
Snoop, possibly knowing what’s happening, desperately tried to jump back into his owners’ car. He even tried to run after the car, but failed.
Passersby reported the abandoned dog to RSPCA immediately and the organization is already investigating the case.
“The footage has to be seen to be believed, it’s just awful. To see the poor dog in such obvious distress jumping up the car as it drives away – it’s just heartbreaking,” said RSPCA inspector Natalie Perehovsky in an article by Unilad.
Perehovsky added that they have traced two previous owners after scanning Snoop’s microchip, but they do not think either of those were his current owners.
RSPCA hopes anyone who knows about the owner, vehicle or the dog in the video, would come forward and contact them.
Snoop is currently under the care of RSPCA while investigation is still ongoing.
