As humans are forced to stay at home and self-quarantine due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic, a group of pet lovers decided to take this moment to connect with others through the screen, putting social media and technology into good use.
Virtual Events Asia organized Dogs @Home Powwow, a free, online family-friendly event to bring dog parents and their fur-babies together to learn educational talks and practical demonstrations from professionals, and enjoy games and virtual booths.
“While we were brainstorming in a video call, several of our team members had their dogs either on their laps, walking around in their condos, or just barking in the background. We realized that our beloved pets give us comfort during these times and we need to take care of them,” says a spokesperson of Virtual Events Asia on why they chose their first dog expo as a virtual event happening on April 25, Saturday through Hopin, an online events platform.
“We also needed a topic which was not too serious and heavy ‘coz after all, we need a break, but we can’t go out!” they added.
