Airports nowadays ask all its arriving passengers to submit their COVID-19 testing prior to their trips and show negative results to be admitted to the country, just like in the United Arab Emirates.
But starting this week, the Dubai International Airport (DXB) started to get help from their police dogs for on-airport rapid coronavirus testing. The sniffer dogs reportedly can produce results in minutes with 92 percent accuracy.
Dubai is one of the first countries to get help from police dogs to sniff out the coronavirus and use it real-time. Dogs have been known for their help in sniffing out several other diseases, such as cancer or malaria.
Having the dogs around for rapid testing is great news for travelers, as it is hassle-free, since getting results from labs take hours or even days in some cases.
The dogs are only deployed in UAE for now, but they are looking to do it in other areas, too if proved successful.
