We are experiencing a hot weather in the country, and stray dogs are definitely suffering from it with no shelter to go to. But this establishment is welcoming stray dogs to cool down amid the rising temperature.

A Shell branch in Catbalogan, Samar welcomes stray dogs in their establishment to allow them to cool down.

“Kung ‘yung ibang establishment pinapaalis or hindi pinapapasok ang mga aso, ibahin niyo ang Shell sa Catbalogan,” wrote a netizen for Furr Station. “Pinapapasok talaga nila ‘yung mga aso sa loob ng store o office nila. Kaya chill chill lang sila, naka-aircon pa.”

The dogs can be seen lying inside the airconditioned office of Shell as we experience 33°C.

Here are some hot weather safety tips from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

  1. Give animal companions plenty of fresh, clean water when it’s hot or humid outdoors. Make sure they also have a shady place to rest, or keep them indoors when it’s extremely hot outside.
  2. Know the symptoms of overheating among companions. This include excessive panting, difficulty breathing, increased heart and respiratory rate, drooling, mild weakness, stupor or even collapse. They could also experience seizures, bloody diarrhea, and vomit.
  3. Animals with flat faces are more susceptible to heat stroke. Them, along with senior, overweight, and companion animals with heart or lung diseases, should be kept in an air-conditioned room as much as possible.
  4. Trim your dog’s hair, but never shave them! The layers of their coats protect them from overheating and sunburn.
  5. Consult your veterinarian to make sure your companion animals get tested for heartworm and receive preventative medication.
