A humpback whale was found floating off the southeastern tip of Long Island last week, and scientists are yet to release what could have been the reason of its death.
Atlantic Marine Conservation Society said that the 30-foot-long female whale was spotted on Wednesday about six miles offshore. Coast Guard and East Hampton Town police helped in bringing it in.
The whale was found fairly decomposed and samples are being sent to a pathologist for further analysis. Her age, date and cause of her death are still unclear as of reporting.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration claimed there have been more deaths on humpback whales since 2016, which were mostly along the United States Atlantic Ocean coast.
