The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) firs posted a photo of the Philippine Eagle spotted perched on a tree in the forest at Mt. Apo on Wednesday.
“Great news! Another juvenile Philippine Eagle was discovered recently in the forests of Mt. Apo! The eagle to be around a year old, was found thanks to the efforts of our hardworking forest guards,” they wrote on the Facebook post.
PEF continues to urge the public to look out for other juvenile eagles and to donate to their Philippine Eagle Conservation Program in their effort to save more eagles and strengthen their grip to existence.
With only 400 pairs left, PEF says they need all the help they could get, especially since it is very difficult to breed the birds as they take five to seven years to sexually mature and only lays a single egg every two years.
