Who knew certain Fishes get lonely?
At the Kaikyokan Aquarium in Shimonoseki, Japan, one Sunfish was feeling unwell, and the aquarium staff devised a way for the Fish to feel better again.
According to a report by Associated Press, the Sunfish was banging on the side of their aquarium, looking worse for wear. The staff initially thought that the Fish had digestive problems. However, despite food issues being addressed, there was no visible improvement.
AN INNOVATIVE SOLUTION
One staff member suggested that the Fish might be lonely, as nobody was visiting the aquarium during the renovations. Their solution was to hang their uniforms and place human-shaped cutouts with smiling faces outside the tank to cheer up the Fish.
The next day, the Sunfish seemed to be in a better mood and ate a meal. As this might be evidence that the loneliness hypothesis was accurate, the staff now keeps the Fish company while aquarium renovations continue.
