A concerned citizen reported about a man, who allegedly slaughtered and cooked a dog in Barangay 654, Port Area yesterday to the Mayor’s office.
The incident was brought to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s attention by a citizen who posted photos of the incident at around 11:30am yesterday. Elements of the Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMaRT) arrested the man and identified the suspect as 44-year-old Jovie Lebrando.
During a press conference at the Manila City Hall, Manila Bulletin reported that Lebrando laughed when Moreno asked him why he did the act, with the suspect calling the slaughtered dog as “lechon aso.”
Lebrando will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act.
