Hurricane Delta devastated a lot of people in Mexico earlier this month. The hurricane was as fast as 145 mph (230 km/h), and it was also one of the biggest hurricanes to ever hit the United States.
Ricardo Pimentel, who works in an animal sanctuary called Tierra de Animal, knew what he needed to do. He knew that the sanctuary was not hurricane-proof and that the animals were not safe there, so he took about 300 animals to his house during the hurricane. Luckily, Ricardo was prepared and had all the food and other necessities in his home.
“Those 300 dogs that I took into my house are some of the ones that already live at Tierra de Animales. It’s just that we don’t have enough hurricane-proof shelters for all the dogs, so keep them safe from that, we decided to put them in the house,” Pimentel told Bored Panda in an interview.
“They were very well-behaved all night during the meteorological phenomenon. They are all spayed and neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed. Almost all of them are ready to be adopted,” he added.
Pimentel has shared the photographs of the animals in his home, and it quickly went viral. People have been calling him a hero and they have been sending him and the animals some love, support, and donations.
Because of the hurricane, Pimentel said they hope people can help and donate in any kind to fix their own shelter and build more homes for the animals.
