A recent footage of a tiny mouse running up and hiding under a cat’s belly have gone viral. Although some people believe the real story behind it is not as “cute” as many think, it has already reached millions of viewers.
The video shows the black-and-white cat chasing the tiny mouse. After some time, the cat appeared to have lose its interest in harming the rat, so he stopped chasing it around and laid down on the pavement. Suddenly, the tiny rodent went up to the cat and hid underneath its belly.
“They seen to be getting along, even better than Tom and Jerry!” said one commenter, along with another one, “[This is] Tom and Jerry offscreen!”
“From the beginning of the video, we soon see the mouse freezing (keeping still). This is a reaction to fear, but is also a strategy used by many animals to try and stop the chase in the hope that the aggressor will leave them alone. It makes no sense to put itself in danger and in my opinion, the fact that it inadvertently runs under the cat’s belly is more about it being shocked, disorientated, and therefore not thinking rationally,” Caroline Clark, an ABTC Registered Clinical Animal Behaviour Counsellor, told Daily Mail in an interview.
