Pawssion Project, a nonprofit animal welfare organization, is calling on kind-hearted animal lovers to save dogs from being euthanized at a Bulacan City pound.

Last October 15, the organization announced that about 100 dogs and a number of cats are in danger as they were put on ‘death row’ in the City of San Jose Del Monte (SJDM) pound as they remained in there for over a month already. Although the city veterinarian does not want to euthanize the animals, the current law and mandate forces the vets to terminate animals who remain unadopted for a period of time.

The city pound has seen people surrender their animal companions more frequently these days as they struggle to sustain their needs amid the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, less people are adopting animals.

Pawssion Project said they have raised enough funds to save the 100 dogs and cats from the city pound, which was P500 per dog including anti-rabies vaccine and free spaying and neutering. Now, the organization hopes more people can help adopt and offer the animals their fur-ever homes.

Those who are interested in adopting can contact Pawssion Project so that the adoption fee is covered. Adopting from the organization, which is also located in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, is free and involves a screening process.
