Peanut, the Squirrel who was taken from his home to be euthanized, tested negative for rabies, according to officials in Chemung County, New York.
In a press conference on Tuesday, county officials revealed the test came back negative. Mark Longo, Peanut’s caretaker, was not surprised at the test result. He said, “I knew the test results were going to be negative.”
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation took Peanut, also known as P’nut, from Mark on Oct. 30. Also taken was a Raccoon named Fred. They were taken due to complaints of wildlife being kept illegally.
