A pair of penguins had been apprehended by police authorities after they were caught repeatedly sneaking around the grounds of a sushi truck in New Zealand.
Wellington District Police (WDP) announced on Monday evening that they had detained two “waddling vagrants” after staying beneath a local sushi truck and trespassing, too on the same day, according to a report by The Guardian.
A staffer reported that he heard “cooing, humming” sounds from near their warm grills that is located beneath the mobile food truck.
“It’s pretty insane the idea that some penguins are camping out under your shop,” sushi shop worker Wini Morris told Radio NZ. “But it’s adorable I think – they’re probably terrified but it’s adorable.”
Constable John Zhu from WDP responded immediately to the scene and the animals were identified as little blue penguins. The police collaborated with the Department of Conservation and the Wellington Zoo to release the penguins back into the wild.
