A hired pet sitter was caught in a video camera throwing a helpless puppy on the floor inside a California home, according to a report by KABC.
Home owners received alerts on their phones due to a motion detected by the camera that had been rolling inside the house. The pet sitter, who had been hired through the popular Rover website, was asked to leave immediately.
“It’s heartbreaking because the reason we love our pet and we don’t want to leave her unattended for very long because she is a baby,” Amanda Roy, one of the owners of the dog, told KABC.
Rover pet sitters have received a lot of negative reviews in recent months following some issues of abuse. Some pet owners reported that their dogs suffered from maltreatment from the pet sitters they’ve hired from Rover.
“The activity depicted in this video is shocking and appalling. We have permanently deactivated this sitter from our platform and will continue to investigate. Any incident of this nature is extremely rare on our platform, and we take it very seriously,” Rover said in a statement.
Another dog walker from Wag! was charged last year after a home video captured him kicking and whipping a dog in Danville, California.
“These people are in your homes. They’re walking your dog. They take care of a part of your family,” David Brown, one of the dog’s owners, told KTVU.
