Taal volcano’s eruption affects not just the people and establishments, but also the lives of several animals, especially those near the area in Batangas.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia, an animal rescue non-profit organization, said they are currently in Taal to provide food and basic veterinary care for the animals left behind as most communities were called to evacuate due to the dangers of volcanic ash and its impending explosion that is set to go within hours or days.
“PETA’s animal rescue team is on the ground, providing food and basic veterinary care to animals right now, and are ready to help animals on the island itself when permitted,” said PETA Asia in its social media accounts on Monday.
They are also calling for relief items to help them in their operations, including a telescope (to search for signs of life on the island), wet or dry cat and dog food, face masks, leashes and collars.
Those who would like to help could drop their donations at PETA Asia’s office at Unite 706, Fedman Building, 199 Salcedo Street, Legaspi Village, Makati between 10am and 6:30pm.
