The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) announced the death of Pag-asa, the first ever Philippine eagle bred and hatched in captivity, using cooperative artificial insemination techniques. He was 28.
“Pag-asa succumbed to infections associated with Trichomoniasis and Aspergillosis. Both diseases are fatal for raptors. Although treatment was done over a week ago, he continued to deteriorate and died at 8:03pm on January 6,” read PEF’s statement.
Pag-asa could have been 29 on January 15.
