A Philippine Hawk-eagle (Nisaetus philippensis) was rescued from a resident in Rizal, and turned over to the Department of Environment – Biodiversity Management Bureau (DENR-BMB) on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The DENR-PAMO-PPL conducted a rescue operation of the eagle located at the Sitio Inigan, Brgy. San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal, which was located within the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape, according to a Facebook post by Penro Rizal.
Resident Jeffrey Manlapaz had the eagle in his possession for four months, and was informed by the PPL personnel that the raptor is a vulnerable species.
The eagle is currently under the custody of DENR-PAMO-PPL, and will be turned over to the BMB Rescue Center in Quezon City.
