Shelter dogs have a hard life. Some were returned to shelters a number of times, and for all those time, they continue to feel unwanted, and undesirable.
That is what Russ the pit bull experienced in the shelter. Before coming into ACCT Philly shelter, Russ was a stray and was not in a good shape. He was very skinny and lost a lot of fur, so the shelter thought about having him put down.
But, a 20-year-old college student who volunteered at the shelter adopted him just on time. Kayla Filoon said when she saw Russ the first time, she knew she needed to take him home with her.
Filoon said Russ was a very affectionate animal companion and he loves to hug her as a sign of being so grateful to her.
“One night, I’m sitting there on the chair doing my homework, and he’s trying to find ways to cuddle with me,” Filoon said. “He’s such a love bug, honestly.”
