Thousands of animals are left without a home after typhoon Ulysses struck the country earlier this month, add to that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that saw people lose their jobs that forced some to give up their animal companions as well.
Thanks to animal welfare organizations, some animals are given a temporary home, but these organizations cannot do the job of providing for the animals alone.
Adopting an animal from the shelter is no easy task — it’s like adding a member into the household and it takes a lot of responsibility. If you are not yet ready to adopt a shelter animal and provide them a fur-ever home, why not help organizations by donating to them for the time being? Or join causes that can help provide for animal shelters?
Gel Estrada, a fur-parent to Golden Retriever named Travis, started to do a campaign to help animals from the Animal Rescue PH, a non-government organization led by husband and wife rescuers Ritchelle Quito and Luzviminda Morales.
Estrada said he is helping the organization by making digital portraits of your companion animals with 50% of all his earnings donated to the shelter.
“I felt they need it the most,” Estrada told Animal Scene in an interview. “Nasa depressed area sila and they have like around 40 cats and more than 10 dogs, not sure sa exact count.”
