Are dogs dreaming about their favorite meal? Do they dream about chasing some cats? Or, maybe, they’re dreaming about running so fast and suddenly falls down? (which might explain some dogs wake up rattled!)
A Harvard psychologist, who have been studying about sleep behavior in humans for years, have tried to establish a clear answer to every pet parents’ question: What do dogs dream about?
Dr. Deirdre Barrett said that most mammals, including dogs, may have a similar cycle with humans, after all, humans are mammals too, according to a report by My Modern Met.
“[This means] they move fluidly through deep sleep to a less brain-active state and then on to stage of Rapid Eye Movement (REM). This last phase of the cycle is where dreams occur in humans,” reported MMM.
In an interview with People, Barrett also explained that is what came to her hypothesis that other mammals are certainly dreaming as well.
“Humans dream about the same things they’re interested in by day, though more visually and less logically,” Barrett said. “Since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell and of pleasing or annoying you.”
Barrett also mentioned that dogs are acting out their dreams whenever they run laying down or when they kick their legs out while sleeping – just like humans!
