If you ever decide to go camping, don’t bring your indoor Cat!

In a Reddit post, one user shared their experience of almost losing their Ragdoll Cat to
the outdoors.

Tempting fate

Reddit user LouisCocoUmma shared their story on the subreddit r/Cats. Before the trip,
they read warnings about Cats getting lost while camping but were confident that their “fancy, indoor Ragdoll [C]at could beat the odds and turn into an adventure [C]at.”

Well, was she wrong.

The story began with Louis and her husband going on a three-day camping trip. Aside
from their Dog, they also brought their Cat Coco along because no one would be
staying at home to take care of them.

Louis even prepared outdoor accommodations “that would make the entire tent as one
zipped up seamless tent,” and made sure it had two compartments. They brought a
scratch post, litter box, and snacks that could help Coco while in an unfamiliar place.

Missing

Still, everything went wrong. Coco went missing at 5 A.M., which Louis’ husband
discovered when he went to the restroom.

The couple searched the area, looking under cars and along the side of the road. They
told themselves that they had time to look for Coco, but they feared the worst.

They drove down the mountain while calling her name. Miraculously, they found Coco
walking along the road. Louis jumped out of the car and chased after her, eventually
finding her hiding inside a pipe. Her husband got out of the vehicle to help, and they
safely recovered Coco.

Lesson learned

Louis ended the post with a lesson: Never take an indoor Cat out camping, no matter
how much preparation you make.

She also discovered Coco’s secret talent (and the reason she had escaped the tent): Coco could nudge open a zipper!
